What type of damage on my roof do I need to look for?

The most frequently encountered type of damaging straight-line wind in a thunderstorm is that associated with the leading edge of the rain-cooled outflow. Although most thunderstorm outflow winds range from 30 to 50 mph, on occasion these winds can exceed 100 mph. As shingles are ripped off of your roof by debris or wind, your home is vulnerable to leaks finding their way into your home.

 

The wind blew a few shingles off my roof, is it still okay?

If your roof has any damage you have a valid insurance claim and should file with your insurance company. Damage might not cause your roof to leak right away, but a year down the line, your roof will start to show signs of leaking. We had a pretty rough hail storm, is my roof damaged?
